The Laws of Spiritual Authority and Unbroken Alignment

MESSAGE HIGHLIGHTS

A sobering teaching on why personal authority on the spiritual battlefield is tied directly to submission to the authority structures God has established. Working through Miriam, Michael the Archangel, Paul before Ananias, Abimelech and Jeroboam, Apostle Chris argued that good intentions do not override divine order — then told two costly stories from his own life to prove it.

“Know your place.”

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  1. 1

Good intentions are not enough — an action done with a sincere heart can still be contrary to divine order and carry spiritual repercussions.

  2. 2

Faith is strengthened by unbroken alignment: mind, heart, mouth and actions must stay in persistent agreement with the Word, or double-mindedness blocks receiving.

  3. 3

Natural closeness, seniority or church office grant no licence to critique a vessel God has set apart — Miriam was a prophetess, the elder sibling, and still turned leprous.

  4. 4

Honour the seat of authority regardless of the person's shortcomings; even Michael would not bring a reviling accusation against the devil.

  5. 5

The centurion had authority because he was under authority. Submission to God's established order governs your own authority and defences on the battlefield.

REFLECTION

Where have you done something with a sincere heart that was nonetheless out of divine order?

Aligning with divine systems — the mystery of spiritual authority, reverence for God's servants, and spiritual power

6 PARTS · 5 STUDY QUESTIONS

Natural thinking versus the Word of God

  • Believers must have the humility to let God's Word correct and reshape their natural perceptions. Human reasoning dictates how a person naturally thinks or feels; spiritual growth demands that thought patterns come into complete alignment with how God thinks.

  • Good intentions are not enough. An action can be undertaken with a sincere heart and still be unwise, ill-advised, or contrary to divine order — and still bring spiritual repercussions. Righteousness cannot be measured by personal intent alone.

Walking in authority and faith

  • The mandate of authority. Christ granted believers authority over demonic oppression and infirmity — casting out demons, speaking in tongues, laying hands on the sick, and trampling on serpents and scorpions.

  • Received strictly by faith. Although all things are provided in Christ, they are received by faith: accepting God's Word, renewing the mind, speaking in agreement, and acting on what He declared despite the opposition of natural reality.

  • Double-mindedness. Many start in faith, but when manifestation tarries their declarations grow passive, cautious, and weakened by human opinion. A double-minded person cannot receive from God.

  • Unbroken alignment. “Faith is strengthened by unbroken alignment.” Receiving kingdom promises requires mind, heart, mouth and actions to remain in persistent agreement with the Word. You are always choosing between the Word of God and the natural, sensual, earthly realm.

  • Mark 16:17-18
  • Luke 10:19
  • James 1:5-8
  • 2 Corinthians 5:7

The core revelation: authority flows from submission

Personal authority on the spiritual battlefield is directly tied to submission to the authority structures God has established. Four scriptural cases were examined.

  • Miriam and Aaron. They criticised Moses over his Ethiopian wife and questioned his exclusivity. God distinguished Moses — speaking to him face to face rather than in visions — and asked, “Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?” Despite Miriam being a prophetess, the elder sibling, and the one who watched his infant basket at the Nile, she turned leprous and remained shut out of the camp seven days even after Moses interceded.

    • Natural familial closeness, seniority, or church office do not grant licence to critique a vessel God has set apart.
  • The restraint of Michael. Even Michael the Archangel, contending with the devil over the body of Moses, did not dare bring a reviling accusation because of rank and authority structures, but said, “The Lord rebuke you.”

  • The seat and the office. Jesus told the multitudes to obey what the scribes and Pharisees commanded because they sat in Moses' seat, while warning them not to imitate their deeds. Paul, having called Ananias a “whitewashed wall,” immediately withdrew his words on learning he was High Priest.

    • Honour the seat of authority regardless of the person's human shortcomings.
  • Abraham, Pharaoh and Abimelech. Abimelech acted in the integrity of his heart and the innocence of his hands — which God Himself acknowledged — yet God called him a dead man, closed the wombs of his household, and required Abraham the prophet to pray for him before restoration. Natural fairness does not override spiritual protocol; God is fiercely jealous for His anointed.

  • Jeroboam. When the king stretched out his hand against the prophet at Bethel crying “Arrest him,” his hand withered instantly until the man of God entreated the Lord for him.

  • Numbers 12:1-16
  • Jude 1:8-10
  • Matthew 23:1-3
  • Acts 23:1-5
  • Exodus 22:28
  • Genesis 12
  • Genesis 20
  • 1 Kings 13:1-6

Two personal testimonies: “Know your place”

  • The office discussion and the battlefield vision. After a prayer meeting, Apostle Chris and a few ministers discussed administrative concerns about meeting times and protocols surrounding Prophet John Anokye. There was no malicious intent, yet deep conviction struck him in evening prayer. That night he saw himself on a spiritual battlefield, resisted by demonic entities where he normally prevailed; one placed a hand near his head saying, “today the warrior is weak… you have committed a treasonable offence.” He went the next morning, prostrated himself and repented, and was declared forgiven. In a later vision he saw power restored to his left hand. His conclusion: submitting to authority governs your own authority and defences on the battlefield.

  • The burglary, three years earlier. At a clergy meeting another minister was offended, and Apostle Chris attempted to mediate by rationalising and explaining Prophet John's motives. Shortly after, burglars entered his apartment through a window and took his phone and the new car he had been given just over a year before; he relied on ride-hailing for the next three years. He recognised that meddling in matters concerning one's spiritual father — even to explain or mediate — strips away divine covering.

  • The admonition. Know your place. Do not arrogate authority to yourself, exercise yourself in matters too high for you, or sit in judgment over God's servants. If anyone attempts to discuss or critique a spiritual father, rebuke them firmly or walk away immediately.

  • Romans 14:4
  • 1 John 1:9

Authority, obedience and warfare

  • The centurion's principle. The Roman centurion recognised that he had authority because he was a man under authority. You must be under God's established authority before demons, diseases or spiritual realms will yield to your command.

  • Fulfilled obedience. Spiritual weapons are mighty to pull down strongholds, but the Lord stands ready to punish all disobedience only when our own obedience is fulfilled.

  • Matthew 8:5-10
  • 2 Corinthians 10:3-6

Closing affirmation by Prophet John Anokye

  • The laws of royalty. The laws governing the public differ from the strict laws governing royalty and the throne. God holds those closest to divine offices to rigorous standards of obedience and reverence.

  • True meekness. Biblical meekness is restraint under immense power — refraining from snap judgments and leaving vengeance to God.

  • Guarding the anointing. Believers and ministers preserve their spiritual aura and authority by honouring spiritual protocols and refusing to meddle in matters beyond their divine jurisdiction.

QUESTIONS TO SIT WITH

For personal study, or to take into a group.

  1. 1

Where have you done something with a sincere heart that was nonetheless out of divine order?

  2. 2

Miriam was a prophetess, the elder sibling, and the one who guarded Moses' basket — and none of it gave her licence. What closeness are you treating as licence?

  3. 3

Honouring the seat regardless of the person: where is that currently hardest for you, and what would it look like to do it anyway?

  4. 4

The centurion had authority because he was under authority. Whose authority are you genuinely under?

  5. 5

Is there a conversation about a spiritual leader you should have walked away from — and what will you do next time?
